چکیده
Platinum group metals (PGMs) play a key role in modern society as they find application clean technologies and other high-tech equipment. Spent catalytic converters secondary resource contain higher PGM concentrations the recovery of these via leaching is continuously being improved but efforts are also directed at purification individual metal ions. The study presents PGMs, namely, rhodium (Rh), platinum (Pt) palladium (Pd) well base metals, zinc (Zn), nickel (Ni), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn) chromium (Cr) using leachates from spent diesel petrol converters. largest amount Pt was leached converter while gave highest Pd when with aqua regia. Merrifield beads (M) were functionalized triethylenetetramine (TETA), ethane-1,2-dithiol (SS) bis((1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)methyl)sulfide (NSN) to form M-TETA, M-SS M-NSN, respectively, for PGMs leach solutions. adsorption loading capacities investigated column studies 1 M HCl concentration. capacity observed increasing order be 64.93 mmol/g (M-SS), 177.07 (M-NSN), 192.0 (M-TETA), converter. M-NSN had much Fe (489.55 mmol/g) compared metals. finding showed that resins effective simultaneous

Studies on Platinum Recovery from Solutions after Leaching of Spent Catalysts by Solvent Extraction
The results of studies on the separation of platinum(IV) ions by solvent extraction from aqueous solutions after leaching of spent catalysts have been reviewed. The following processes have been discussed: acid leaching of spent catalysts and solvent extraction of platinum(IV) ions by using organophosphorous acids, amines and oximes as the extractants. In hydrometallurgical leaching of spent au...
متن کاملBioengineering of bacteria to assemble custom-made polyester affinity resins.
Proof of concept for the in vivo bacterial production of a polyester resin displaying various customizable affinity protein binding domains is provided. This was achieved by engineering various protein binding domains into a bacterial polyester-synthesizing enzyme. Affinity binding domains based on various structural folds and derived from molecular libraries were used to demonstrate the potent...
متن کاملCatalytic oxidation of CO by platinum group metals: from ultrahigh vacuum to elevated pressures
CO oxidation over platinum group metals has been investigated for some eight decades by many researchers and is considered to be the best understood catalytic reaction. Nevertheless, there has been a renewed interest in CO oxidation recently because of its technological importance in pollution control and fuel cells. Removal of COx from automobile exhaust is accomplished by catalytic converters...
متن کاملSeparation and Recovery of Platinum and Palladium from Spent Petrochemical Catalysts Using Activated Carbon, Analysis of Two Kind of Most Used Catalysts in Petro Chemistry
The goal of this work is the separation and recovery of platinum and palladium from spent catalyst. The recovery consisted of separating the maximum amount of platinum and palladium from catalysts and changing them into usable forms. The petroleum and petrochemical units use Pt and Pd catalyst for reactions such as reforming and hydrogenation. Because these materials contain valuable metals...
متن کاملMETALS RECOVERY FROM SPENT Zn-MnO2 BATTERIES BY HYDROMETALLURGY
A hydrometallurgical process for recycling spent Zn-MnO2 batteries was developed, involving leaching with sulfuric acid, purification by precipitation and metals separation for further recovery. Leaching of zinc oxide was easily attained while for manganese oxide was rather difficult depending on temperature and acid concentration. At 90oC and with the liquid/solid ratio of 20 L/kg, more than 9...
